Samara’s Aid Appeal

Daily on our television screens we see the plight of destitute refugees who have left everything, desperate to escape the war in Syria.
Can we help?

Here’s a way we can.
Our Justice and Peace Group has teamed up with English Martyrs, Goring, to collect items that will go directly to refugees in Syria and Iraq.  Working in partnership with the charity “Samara’s Aid Appeal” ( boxes of aid are sent directly to our brothers and sisters in the camps.

So, what’s needed?

It’s a big list:

  • Adult and child clothing and underwear;
  • blankets, sheets and towels;
  • baby bedding and Moses baskets;
  • disposable nappies, sanitary towels and incontinence pads;
  • bars of soap, toothbrushes and toothpaste.

Items may, please, be brought to any Mass on Sunday 1st May.  They will be packed and sent to English Martyrs ready to shipment to the Middle East the following weekend.  Last weekend on Lesbos Pope Francis said, “refugees are not numbers; they are people who have faces, names, stories and need to be treated as such”.  Please do help.

  1. I was asked by a neighbour to collect clean new or used clothes for Samara’s Aid for the local church, St. Marys in Bognor Regis. when I asked her when she wanted them, she said the church was no longer collecting. Is there anywhere local or in Worthing where I could leave the clothes I’ve collected?
    Looking forward to hearing from you,
