NEWSLETTER ITEMS FROM THE JUSTICE & PEACE GROUP WEEK COMMENCING 28-11-21

Parish Projects We are now supporting our two new Parish Projects. 1/ Living Pearl Ukraine– accommodate boys without families or homes to go to.  2/ Through Aid to the Church in Need we will be supporting St John the Merciful Table Centre that helps families fleeing from Syria as refugees to Lebanon.  Here’s some information on St John’s Merciful Table from a boy refugee

“I’m called Majed. I now live with my family in Lebanon, but my father tells me that we are originally from Syria and that our real home is there.” This twelve-year-old boy is one of the thousands of refugees who were forced to leave their country and seek refuge in the town of Zaleh in the Bekaa Valley of Lebanon. Majid and their family were grateful to be able to take advantage of the food aid programme known as the “St. John the Merciful Table”, an emergency meals programme for the Syrian refugee families and the Lebanese families thrown into poverty by the terrible crisis  https://acnuk.org/provide-a-hot-meal/

Live Simply Tip of the Week Welcome alternatives to disposables (paper towels, garbage liners, wax paper, aluminum sheets, disposable plates, cups, etc….): Swap paper towels for reusable rags, swap sandwich baggies for kitchen towels or stainless containers, drop garbage liners all together (wet waste is mostly compostable anyways).http://www.zerowastehome.com/about/tips/

Fr Silvester Thanks to everyone who have contributed to the collection of medical items for the health centre in his parish in Uganda.  We now have a good amount ready to go so we’ll make this Sunday the last day of the appeal.
