Novena of St Francis for a World Under Threat. During the Season of Creation we’re asked to use Nine brief reflections asking St Francis of Assisi to pray for us and our world, based on his beautiful Canticle of the Sun.
This novena is a song of penitence and praise, guiding us to care for the earth and for our most vulnerable sisters and brothers, especially the Amazon peoples. They are currently under grave risk from coronavirus, given their fragile situation, often in remote locations far from government services.
Use these video prayers over nine days or at nine moments of personal prayer. Each has four phases: Canticle; Amazon voice; penitential prayer; plea for intercession.
New Parish Project’s as mentioned in a previous newsletter we are now supporting two new parish projects, Living Pearl a boys orphanage in Ukraine – who we featured recently – & Aid to the Church in Need Project “Winter Fuel for the Elderly in Syria”. The following information about the Syrian project
Fuel for the Winter for Families in Aleppo and Damascus – With this project, Sr. Annie wants to help 100 households in Damascus and 250 households in Aleppo. The households are made up of elderly people who no longer have their families around them. In many cases, their children are refugees and cannot afford to send money home to help their parents. Fuel prices have rocketed in Syria and fuel is rationed. The government gives a fuel ration to each household of 200 litres per month, a fraction of the 700 litres an average family needs. Winters are very harsh and yet people can only afford to heat their homes for a short period each day. Sr. Annie wants to give each of these households an extra ration of 200 litres in two batches.
