Desert Silence; A journey into deeper encounter with God
Young Adults Retreat @ Worth Abbey Benedictine Monastery 9 th – 11 th September 2011
The weekend will reflect on the themes of the desert and wilderness wandering in Scripture and the monastic tradition, seeking to enter into a deeper encounter with God in the emptiness and silence of the desert; with input from Fr Stephen Ortiger OSB, Fr Luke Jolly OSB, and a member of the Lay Community of St Benedict.
The retreat offers an experience of the Benedictine way of life, and a chance to take a step back from busy lives to reflect in the beautiful surroundings of Worth Abbey in Sussex. The group will participate in the monastic rhythm of prayer in the Divine Office, Mass, lectio divina, and silence. There will also be time for personal reflection, Adoration, the Sacrament of Reconciliation, walks, and fellowship with other young Christians. At the Mass on Saturday the 10th, a young member of the monastic community will be making his Solemn Profession as a monk, taking the Benedictine vows of Obedience, Stability and Conversatio Morum. This will be an occasion of great joy and profound witness to Christ, which we are welcomed to attend. Please keep Br Gabriel in your prayers as he prepares to take this step!
Donations per person between £62 and £92 This event is hosted by the Lay Community of St Benedict and the monastic community of Worth.
