The Church Shop

Many thanks to all our customers the support you gave us over the last year. The profits from the shop go towards the maintenance of your church.

The 2019 Diocesan Directory is now available. We also have the January Bible Alive and a few 2019 Catholic Diaries left.

Our volunteer band of merry helpers hope to open the shop after Mass.

Women’s Breakfast

The Women’s Breakfast will be changing this year! Instead of the monthly meetings, there will be a twice-yearly Day for Women. Further details will follow …
Thanks are offered to all who have supported the breakfasts over the last four years.

With my love and prayers, Jane-Anne Casey.

Thank-you for your support for the recent KSC Race Night

Many thanks to all who supported our recent Race Night. We raised £640 which will go between St Barnabas and Mary’s Meals.

We will be holding our next Race Night in May and will be looking to raise money for any nominations for Red Shirts wanting to go to Lourdes with the A&B Pilgrimage in 2015.

Thank-you to the Church Cleaners

A big thank you to all of you who have recently joined our cleaning teams. We had a great response to the call for new volunteers and have good numbers on all our teams. Thanks to all continuing members and to team leaders for your help as I took over as co-ordinator. Finally, on behalf of all, thank you to MARY HODSON for years of cleaning an organising this very necessary part of parish life. Teresa Turner

Scaffolding on the house!

It has been noticed that the pointing on the Chimney stacks on the house has severely deteriorated. Also the soffits and guttering need attention. We are most grateful for the anonymous donation and donation towards the Church Heating and thank you to all who contribute every week towards the work of the Lord, (which includes roofs and heating)!

GR20 Hike a Thank-You

I want to say a huge thank-you to everyone who sponsored me for the GR20 hike which was to raise money for the charity Medecins sans Frontieres (MSF ). The two week180 km hike was very challenging but also immensely enjoyable and was more than worthwhile for the friends, achievement and awareness and money raised for MSF.

Altogether we raised over £5,000! This will help contribute to the projects MSF run in over 60 countries, millions of consultations, operations, treatments and vaccinations every year and so MSF can respond immediately to natural disasters.

CAFOD Lent Appeal raises £9m

CAFOD Martin Brown the Manager of CAFOD S.E. wished to convey his thanks to the
parish for our contribution towards the Lent Appeal. On previous years CAFOD raised
£2million, this year they raised £9 million & that’s before the Government’s match

Thank-you for your contributions

Thank you to all parishioners who contribute via weekly envelope or monthly standing order as regular contributions throughout the year help enormously with our finances.

All parishioners who contribute weekly should collect their boxed envelopes from the social area as soon as possible. Hopefully, you will have received confirmation of your envelope number by now.

Start using the new envelopes from 8 April and then destroy all old envelopes unless agreed with Organiser.

Anyone interested in joining the Planned Giving or Gift Aid Scheme should leave their details in the Sacristy or telephone Mark Hodson on 238628.

The Gift Aid scheme enables the parish to reclaim tax on the member’s contribution. Last year the parish received £9,834 from HMRC so if you are a tax payer and would like the parish to benefit, please get in touch.

Thanks for the kind donations for CAFOD Fast Day

Thanks to Parishioners who donated an impressive £615.

Because of the Governments Aid Match scheme CAFOD will now receive £1.230 to help their work in relieving poverty.

It’s not too late to give to CAFOD & take advantage of the scheme; envelopes are still available at the entrance which you can send direct. Their newsletter is also available.

Next weekend there will be an opportunity to support CAFOD’s ‘Thirst for Change’ campaign calling on the Prime Minister to urge heads of other developed countries to commit to giving resources needed to provide safe water & sanitation to the poorest & most neglected people in the world.

One child dies every 20 seconds from diseases caused by drinking contaminated water!! PLEASE sign a card at the CAFOD table after Mass. It will only take a second but may save a life.

Thank-you for the International Mass

It was great to have so many join in with our International Mass last Sunday and my tremendous thanks to all who organised the event and took part in the Mass and provided such a lovely Shared Lunch. May God Bless you All.

Several people expressed appreciation of the event and ask for something similar in the future. I hope to call a meeting in the near future to establish a SOCIAL COMMITTEE to look at establishing a programme of events through the year. Volunteers Gratefully Received! Participants Even More So!
