Prayer for the Papal Visit to the UK; 16-19th September 2010
God of truth and love,
your Son, Jesus Christ, stands as the light
to all who seek you with a sincere heart.
As we strive with your grace
to be faithful in word and deed,
may we reflect the kindly light of Christ
and offer a witness of hope and peace to all.
We pray for Pope Benedict
and look forward with joy
to his forthcoming visit to our countries.
May he be a witness to the unity and hope
which is your will for all people.
We make our prayer through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Diane Thorne has a contact who is working with the people of two devastated villages in North West Pakistan she has information about this project and is establishing a secure way of sending money. She will be fundraising and asking for your support and prayers.

The parish has been involved in a parish project for the past three years. We have supported the work of Fr Shay Cullen by tithing money from the weekly collection.
Fr Shay a Columban father has been working with children who have been put in Adult jails for petty crimes. He has rescued many and given them a chance to have a better life. He is doing well and is well supported by many people. We feel we can now turn our attention to other people in great need.
Cafod have many projects in different countries. If any parishioner knows of a project that they have personal contact with and that project could give us regular contact and updates. Please let the J&P Group know by contacting 01903 504767or rod.504t@ntlworld.com.
We have received one project from a parishioner. This project together with a project from Cafod and any other project that comes forward will be presented to the Parish.
GOD IS THE CREATOR OF EVERYTHING THERE IS AND THIS CREATION IS GOOD

Today is Sea Sunday when the Church remembers all those who live and work at sea.
Many people have never stopped to consider how important seafarers are to our standard of living. Without them we would not have most of the items we use in our everyday lives. Many of these seafarers do not have the quality of life on board that every human has the right to. Apostleship of the sea (AoS) is the official maritime welfare agency of the Catholic Church in Great Britain. The Apostleship of the Sea reaches out to seafarers that visit our ports each year, offering pastoral and practical support and care. AoS is wholly dependent on voluntary donations to continue its work; it takes the love of Christ to seafarers in the name of the Church, recognising them as our brothers and sisters in need. Sea Sunday is the principal fundraising and awareness-raising event of the year for AoS. Today’s second collection will be taken at Masses throughout the country, this annual event is absolutely vital for AoS to continue their work.
Please give generously, and remember seafarers in your prayers. Thank you.
