Holy Week

Holy Week, the central week of the churches year.

Begins Palm Sunday, we not only Remember but are asked to take our part in the Sufferings, Death and Resurrection of Jesus as He offers His Life for the sake of all people.

Palm Sunday at all masses, we bless branches and enter the Church in procession, unlike the people of the time who had little idea of what was happening, we praise and thank God for what Jesus has done and proclaim Him as the conqueror of sin and death. If the weather is fine the 10.30am and 5.30pm Masses will begin outside. Palm fronds will be available and instructions how to make them into crosses, but you are invited to bring your own branches to be blessed.

Maundy Thursday 8pm, Mass of the Last Supper preceded by a shared Supper.

The Gospel of the Washing of the feet of the Disciples is re-enacted by the Priest and people. At the end of Mass the Blessed Sacrament is taken in Procession to a Place of Solemn reservation where we are invited to come and pray with Jesus at the time of His agony in the garden of Gethsemane until Midnight.

12.15pm Procession of Witness with other Christians starting from the Salvation Army, Crescent Road, Worthing.

Easter Sunday

Easter Night (Saturday 23rd April) at 8.30pm Vigil & first mass of Easter, the mass of the year. Other masses on Sunday at 8:30am, and 10:30 am.

We celebrate the events which foretold the Death & Resurrection of Jesus in Word Picture and Music. We symbolise the rising of Jesus from the dead by lighting a new fire, reading the account of His Resurrection, lighting the Easter candle, enter the church and light our candles, praise our Risen Lord in song, bless the baptismal water, renew our baptismal promises and celebrate the first Easter mass.
